Just acquired this and I don’t really know much about the P38’s.  Yeah I could Google it but I’d rather ask you fellas!

Any info will help!

Where do we go from here???

Post war, didn't see military or police use.  I can look up the serial when I get home.

Earlier post war version, doesn't have the hex bolt or fat slide.

What Ameshawki said, plus I'll add the circle with the dot is a Walther in-house acceptance stamp, a QC stamp. The four-pointed star means that part is a modification from the original drawing. The left side frame markings should be the 2-digit year of production, followed by the Walther inspection antlers and the eagle-over-N nitro proof. Walther began producing the P38 with an aluminum frame in 1957, but didn't reinforce it with the hex bolt until June of 1975.

You have a very nice post-war, aluminum frame P38. Shoot standard ammo through to avoid cracking the frame.
