In your experience, is this a reliable pistol?

it seems that Keltec in general is a hit or miss affair....Some work 100%....others work 100%, about 75% of the time.

Some require a fluff and buff to function reliably....Some work 100% for years and then break...bringing it down to 0%.

Some are flawless.

hit and miss...

the upside however is that Keltec has a wonderful return policy and will stand behind their products.

Mine was until last week.  I took it to the range, and the thing ran like crap.  I will no longer be carrying it.

No kidding.   Mine was dead-nuts reliable until last week.  I detail stripped it, and it started running fine again.  I'm not going to carry something that craps out if it gets a litte dirt in the wrong place.  My glocks, I dump in the sand all the time, and they never complain.

Mine has been 100% reliable, but I don't shoot/carry it much since I got the Kahr PM9.  But I did run it through a 30 round qualification course a few months ago with no problems.  I had it in a pocket holster, did not clean or lube it before hand,  just grabbed a box of ammo stuck it in the range bag for the third pass (after q'ing with my G19 and PM9).

Funny you should ask - just bought one the other weekend. My initial response would have been "crap" - hand-cycling wouldn't eject the last round, live firing resulted in feed-failures at least once with each mag. Just freaking awful. Came home and found out that my initial field-strip had allowed the unsecured, non-retained ejector (part #115, fwiw) to just drop out. I'd been firing a gun without all its parts installed. Joy.

Went out for another run with it this weekend and - surprise! - it was flawless. Ran 87 rounds through without any mechanical failures. Accuracy was good inside of 7 yards (it is a BUG), recoil/flip wasn't anywhere near as bad as I'd been led to believe and empties ejected pretty consistently (I still think I'm going to go factory vs. reloading, though).

Give me a few more weeks and I'll have a short, straight answer for you (all IMHO, of course).

I know of several that failed in a way that required warranty repair to make the functional again. I will no longer sell any Kel-Tec. If you're willing to trust you life to one of these cheap pieces of junk, natural selection will take care of things....
Whats your life worth? Buy a used J-Frame, or double barrel derringer...

Stolen from a post a few months ago by someone else here

Kel-Tec's, I'm convinced, are for people who don't shoot much and are willing to close their eyes and ears to the warnings. And don't count their lives worth much.

Mine was a complete pos, ftf, fte, brass hitting my forehead, got rid of it quick!, could not be trusted to carry. But it was a sweet litttle gun if i could of kept it from jamming!

My buddy has a P3AT that wouldn't fire, either the trigger wouldn't engage the hammer (like the transfer bar slipped off) or the hammer would raise but wouldn't drop.   He sent it back recently and I haven't heard any updates.

I had a P11 that never actually failed me but it was far from impressive; I no longer own it and am a bit leery of buying any more of their products.

What's the procedure?  I have the P3AT that's a little problematic, but nothing serious.

Had 1 ,  Notice "HAD",  thought it would carry easily in the pocket,  well it did and thats about all it did, besides collect lint. Had so-many jams I could not justify it for anything but a paper weight.  Luckily I traded it on an AR.  I don't like buying a product that needs to be returned to the factory as soon as the purchase is made.

2 of the 3 I observed on the range this last summer had some sort of problem that caused a jam before an entire magazine was fired.
