Well after all these years of faithful service to both myself and my father my first generation (1995) Ruger P95DC is starting to breakdown. Every time the pistol fires the hammer will follow the slide home. So essentially my pistol has turned into a DAO pistol. I've already contacted Ruger about it but I figured I'd get everyone else's opinion while I wait for a response. So what do you think it is?

What was Rugers response to the problem? I would see what they wanted you to do first.

Please keep us updated on this.  I imagine something got bent or worn.  How many rounds has the pistol fired?

My first guess is that your hammer is worn in the area where it engages the block.

Get Ruger on the phone and have them look at it. Yeah, you could have a local smith figure it out, but, Ruger does a pretty fair job of fixing their own stuff.

You can easily spend $100 swapping out parts till you get the right one. That is not my style.

Call, don't email them.

Send it in and they will fix it.
