| Ok Pennsyvanians or anyone who knows. Say if someone you know has bought a handgun and is thinking of selling it to you or another friend or whatever. What are the legal limitations, if any, that he must abide by. (age, type of firearm, etc.) Didn't know where to post this thread so I apologize beforehand if the location is inappropriate. All posts always appreciated. |

Might get more useful replies if you post it in the PA HTF. FTF transactions are covered by state law; there are not federal regulations as there are for FFL-based transactions. As such, only someone familiar with the laws of your state can really shed any light on the situation. |
| Researcher is correct, all face to face handgun transactions must go through an FFL unless the transfer is to immediate family. FTF transfers of a long gun don't require an FFL but it is recommended because you are liable if the seller can't legally own a firearm |
Sort of.... You must do the NCIS check, which is why you can have it done at the local sheriff's office. |
| all the other posts are correct. just did it for a glock 23 the other day. go to an FFL and transfer the gun from seller to buyer and they give you a bill of sale and do the check on the buyer and your good to go. i hear some places charge 20 bucks and some ive heard even around 40 bucks to transfer but i only paid 10 bucks. |
