I just picked this Kimber Custom II in .45 ACP up today when I saw the price and being BNIB. I also bought a couple of the fancy 8+1 mags. My God, I wish we had 45's like these issued out from the Armorer back when I was in the Army.

Kimber Custom Carry II.  It's an all steel 4" officer's model in .45 ACP.  It was only available at Cabela's and one of 250 made.  I want to add some Meprolights.

with original grips...

Kimber Custom TLE II

Nothing fancy, I have some wilson 47D's on the way, may do a lighter trigger. I also custom make grips for these, I will post pics of those too when I get a chance. Let me know what you guys think of the pen :)

On this past Friday I took the plunge and purchased my first Kimber. In fact, despite having been an active shooter for 34 years this is my first 1911. After examining several 4" models I chose the Pro Raptor II. I immediately replaced the wood grips with Hogue diamond patterns (yes the Raptor pattern is beautiful but I prefer rubber).

A picture of the pistol and target are below. Distance to target was 7 yards and rate of fire was moderate.

I bought this Classic Custom online a year or so ago with the hopes of making it a project gun of sorts.  I finally got started today by adding some new parts.  Here's a list of what I used:

10-8 Performance front and rear sights
10-8 Performance magazine catch
10-8 Performance flat trigger
10-8 Performance grips
Guncrafter Industries lanyard loop mainspring housing
Ed Brown G.I. style recoil guide and plug
Wolff recoil, firing pin and hammer springs
Wilson Combat #47DCB magazines x 2
