Would this be something covered by warranty or do I need to buy a new barrel? It would depend on whether or not the gun came that way from the factory. If it did, I would assume a warranty repair would be in order. If it happened while say, threading the thread protector or silencer on incorrectly, I would assume you'd be SOL, or have to pay Walther for a replacement. |

So, I called Earl's (who is actually a 20 minute drive away!) to see how much a replacement barrel costs... $295... when I can buy a new pistol for $299... seriously? http://www.carlwalther.com/ppxm1.htm Now I'm just waiting to hear back from Walther's CS email. |

This is the kind of stuff that prevents Walther from going "nationwide". Escaping their "niche" following. I only know of one distributor who stocks parts, the one you referenced. Parts are harder than hell to get a hold of and very expensive. When I tried to get a hold of Walther CS I never could despite multiple emails and calls. |

I lost a magazine follower for my PPS and I had a difficult time reaching Walther customer service last year, but when I finally did, they were very nice and helpfull. They sent me one for free. |

Not encouraging for me. I have a PPX-9 with factory threaded barrel that I purchased about nine months ago as well. I am waiting for my Osprey to get out of NFA jail.
Will the piston still thread on securely? It looks like you should still have enough purchase to support the can. |

Its secure when its tight. there is a little play in it if it isn't tight though, but that's the case on my Ruger as well. |

The warranty for these is only 1 year by the way. Outside of that you are on your own. Actually Walther says the warranty is now lifetime. I had heard this so I called and they confirmed it. It's here at the bottom of this page. http://www.waltherarms.com/handguns/ppx/ |

How do you guys like this pistol? Buddy of mine bought a couple from CDNN at unbelieveable prices. Dbl action trigger was very nice. Like nothing I've ever felt before on Dbl action pistol. Just never got the chance to shoot it. This issue aside, I love it! It is the cleanest, sweetest shooting pistol I've shot, let alone a DAO. |
| Heat treat problem maybe. Got the steel to hard and brittle. Or if your can backed off and was flopping around. That's strange, though. I've never seen damage in the middle of a threaded section like that. Galling, yes, but that usually drags out the whole way until you get it unscrewed (if you manage to gorilla it out-- usually destroys male and female parts to do that). This looks more like a fracture. |

Broke my PPS 6 years after purchase....no receipt. Walther had just opened in Arkansas, so I called them to see if they would repair it...fully expecting to pay the price of the repair. They asked me to ship it to them and they would let me know what the cost would be. I paid $30 to send it to them FedEx, got it back three days later with a bill of $0. They had replaced several of the inners and cleaned it. Needless to say, I'm a fan of Walther's customer service, don't know many companies that would warranty repair something 5 years out of warranty.

Just never got the chance to shoot it. I own one in 9 and one in .40. I LOVE them. Fantastic triggers, very natural fit in the hand. Decent factory sights. I shoot mine accurately and confidently. A lot of critics can't get past the way the barrel is constructed (three part assembly with a MIM breech block) but I have not heard of any failures with this design. That and the price seems to rattle a lot of people who can't believe you can get so much gun for so little money. Cheap mags too! Good to hear Walther took care of the OP. |
