Took my new PT145 to the range today and shot 50 rounds of PMC Bronze, 230 grs. FMJ. Flawless performance and good results on the target, for me. Also shot five rounds of Federal Hydra-Shok 165 grs. with a very noticeable difference in recoil. The long trigger pull is something you have to get used to but is no problem once you do. I got this weapon for concealed carry and like the size and weight for a .45. The fact that it has a safety is a plus for me. I love my Glock but am hesitant to carry it with a round in the chamber.

I have one I rotate in my CCW. I also have a PT140 that is my favorite CCW. I just installed a set of Williams Firesights on the PT140 and it makes a world of difference in sight aqusistion in the daylight.

Sel,

How are the firesights at dusk/daybreak? I realize they are fairly useless in pitch black, but how do they do in strong moonlight or as the sun goes down?

I've been eyeballing a set for the PT-145 I have that doesn't have night sights. I've got one PT-145 with night sights already, so why not try something new...lol

Do you have the double action only trigger or the double and single action trigger? I started off with the DAO trigger and couldnt stand it. so I sold it and bought a stainless with the da/sa trigger  and it makes a world of difference. much smoother trigger pull, lighter, and what I believe to be a cleaner break. overall it has been a great firearm, especially for the 299.00 I paid for it brand new for the stainless model..

I've been carrying an origional PT145 for 3 years now and have had no probs so far cept one. If you have big paws as I do your middle finger on your grip hand can somtimes hit the mag eject button. With training the little problem can be elinminated. The trigger on this weapon is the DA only one. Again with time behind the gun it's not a problem for the range this pistol was designed for.

FWIW I have other pistols I carry but time and time again I strap this little gun on my side and have no qualms about it's leathality in  protecting me. My carry load is 230 grain Ranger SXT's and except for the bit of a snap on the recoil side it's potent but controlable combination.

You could do a lot worse for a carry piece than this one. IMHO

The holster is a DeSantis Mini-Slide. I run it in the 4'o clock position and it tucks nicely. And for when somthing a little more discreate is needed I run it in a De Santis cozy partner {which is a IWB rig}. here are the links to both.

Mags for the PT-145 are getting a bit on the pricey side {upwards of $50 bucks these days} I would recommend that you use only origional mags for this gun {but thats just me} you can get them from the Taurus website.
