How are they? Reliability, Accuracy? I am thinking about picking one up as a CCW.

I have one that is a two tone.  Aside from replacing the Heine sights with 3 dot Firesights, the gun is 100% factory.

The trigger has a long takeup, but a light, crisp break.  It is as accurate as I can shoot it, and quite likely more so.  It has fed and fired every round I've put through it.

It is my daily CCW piece.

For what its worth, I'm a former LEO/tactical officer/security contractor...I've owned some very fine firearms, Briley 1911's, etc.  I carry a SIG Pro 2340 as a duty weapon.  I never thought that I would buy another taurus after getting screwed many years ago when the PT-101 came out, satin nickel flaked, failed to feed/eject-just a major POS. It went back to the factory 3 times, without being fixed, even though taurus knew it was an LEO's duty weapon..Finally sold it with full disclosure to someone that needed a utility weapon at the ranch.  Enter the Taurus PT-140 (looks to be identical to the PT-111, excpt. caliber).  Was in an Academy store and saw last years model on closeout price of 325.  Figured that If I didn't like it, the slim grip would be good for my wife.  I found the trigger to be better than the G27 I carried as a plainclothes LEO for years (no goofy trigger safety), and I liked the very short reset.  My range time showed that the weapon was very reliable, and I noticed that it shares an operating system with a fellow security contractor's Taurus OSS (he's had zero reliability probs also).  I ran it dirty and dry with no issues, and mine came with Heinie straight 8 sights which I like-a real deal for what I paid.  An added bonus is that it safely fits all of the G27 holsters I already had. Was a better fit in my maxpedition fatboy than my SigPro.. Durable, needs little maintenance or lube.  Like the G27, I had to get used to a little different point of aim. Mine is all blued, and doesn't have any corrosion probs in Texas heat/humidity.  Hope that helps.

My wife has one.  She likes it.  I have an earlier generation PT-111 Millenium.  At least 1000 rounds of various ammo (brass, steel, aluminum, HPs, FMJs) and it's been dead on reliable and accurate.  I had it as my CCW today, along with a Keltec P32 as a BUG when I was running errands in town today.

Well, I had one for a while, for the SO.................................

Best thing I could say about it was it was totally reliable, about 500 rnds throug it no malfunctions. And the grip was nice and slim.

But, the trigger pull was horrible. Very hard for her to be accurate with (she has no problem being accurate with the Glock trigger though.). I wasn't crazy about it either.

The mag release was very weak, and easily hit on accident. If I'd kept the gun, I'd have ground it down almost flush with the frame to remedy this.

The mags, though they both said 12 rnds on them, I could never cram more than 11 in, no matter how hard I tried. Didn't seem to be that well made, the mags that is.

Seemed to be fairly well made, but seemed to have a few too many small parts inside................not sure about how the longevity would've been. I have since read reports of slides cracking.

Sites were somewhat small too.

Not all that bad a pistol, but you could do much better for a "carry piece".

I love my 9mm PT111.  Only FTE's (2) the gun has had is when a friend of mine limp-wristed it.  Shoots a bit low, but groups consistently.  I was practicing center head shots and consistently hitting the throat area.

My dad owns one. He is happy with it. Except that pulling the trigger gives him some pain. He has pretty bad arthritis in both hands.

I have one as of July, last thing I got out of Sportsmens Warehouse before they closed.  Very happy with it. Shoots good groups at 20 yds which is amazing to me for a short barrel.  Fits my hand great so it points great and stainless slide is a plus for CC in sweaty Florida.  Downside: trigger is rough but seams to be getting better. Heine sights are different than regular sights, you don't put your target on top of the front sight post like a popsicle, you cover your target with front dot, once you get used to this it shoots good.  Are there better pistols? sure, the skys the limit on how much quality you can buy. I didn't have that much in my budget for this particular pistol but I give it an A- so far.

The trigger will be rough at first... mine smoothed out at about 500 rounds, Nice shooter. very accurate and no malfunks...

I bought one (at a gunshow) for my wife to CCW.  She's put a couple hundred rounds through it w/no problems.

I bought one with 3 holsters for $200 used. I sold 2 of the holsters for $30 and $40, so I have $130 in mine. I use it as a truck gun in case it gets stolen. Now, after shooting it more and more I am finding it is becoming one of my favorite guns. I used to make fun of Taurus, but I really like mine. I have 5 mags for it now and rotate them each range trip and shoot at least 1 mag. No malfunctions of any kind yet. I like how small and slim it is and I like the safety.

I think they are a pretty good pistol.  I don't really like the sites very much.  I'm not very accurate with it, I don't really understand how the straight eight sights are supposed to work.  However, I have fired mine around 500 times with 0 failures of any kind(both ball and hp).  I would recommend, espcially for the price.  Be aware though that at least where I live finding a good holster is difficult.

I have to agree, Taurus has made good one, it is my main carry piece now. The only thing I did was add the Houge slip on (the small one) and that made it even better +1 on the no malfunks I have shot all types of ammo through it, wolf sleel case, relaods, WWB, BBrass,Fed, Rem, UMC, with NO issues ever,

Anyone know if any other model of Taurus mag will work in the PT 911 ? I know they have some 15 round and 17 round magazines. Would be nice to get a few larger capacity even if they stick out of the bottom some.

I know the 12rd 24/7 .45acp magazine will work in my PT145 with some overhang.  Imagine that you find the same scenario to work for you.

Well, it's my understanding that the 24/7magazines will work in the corresponding Millenium Pro caliber.  Re: the initial question posed by the thread's author, I don't shoot mine that much, but it has never failed to function perfectly when I have shot it.  You know there is a dedicated Taurus forum (taurusarmed.net).––Patrice

I have had my PT111 for just over a year. No complaints other than the mags are a little pricey for the small capacity. Bang for the buck, they are hard to beat, and quite reliable.

I've had my PT-111 MilPro for a couple of years now and it is my main CCW in a CrossBreed Quik Clip. I've never had a FTF or FTE. I don't understand all the comments about rough triggers, but then maybe that's because I've spent a lot of time dry firing mine. You can make snapcaps by picking up some fired brass off the ground and getting some of your reloading buddies to dummy load them without primers. Then fill the primer cavity with hot glue and trim even with the rim. Works great. Dry firing will show you that there is a notch in the pull that is about the same as with a two stage trigger. Its in the same place in SA and DA. Once you get used to it, simply pull in the slack to the notch and its like a 1911 trigger after that. The 709 Slim has the same notch in its pull.  I've only had limited access to the 738, but I believe it also has this notch. Makes them a lot easier to shoot well.  I paid $314 for my PT-111 at a local gun shop here in Huntsville, AL.

My PT-111 was very picky about ammo. Most stuff (115, 125 and 147 grain bullets) shoots low, but WIN SXZ9 Lubalox coated 115 JHPs shoot right to point of aim. Maybe its the moly coating since other 115 grain bullets still shoot a few inches low. Then again, if I shot those Straight 8's the way their meant to be shot those SXZ9's might be shooting high. I use a LULA to load the mags, so I'm not having any problem getting 12 rounds in. I carry this pistol because its easy to conceal, a easier to carry all day than a 1911, I know its going to fire first time, every time and I know it will hit what I aim at. Maintenance is easy, I've had zero corrosion issues, and take down is easy and requires no tools. I've got the OD green/Blue slide version.

Academy Sports had their PT140 on Black Friday for $199.  Many places are running their Black Friday sales longer, so you might get lucky.

I have had a PT111 for a while. I bought it used and have fired onver 500 rounds without any issues at all. I also have a Sig and a Ruger and I usually carry the Taurus. It just kind of grew on me for some reason. The other guns are great but I seem to always go back to the PT111.

My girlfriend decided on a PT111 Mil-Pro. After handling it at the funstore and doing a little research I bought one as well.

Her's out the box was jamming and ended up being a bad recoil spring. Taurus sent a replacement within a week and it's ran perfect since.

Mine, with all the bad rap Taurus gets I've tried to cause it to have problems and it just keeps going bang eveytime. I love my little Mil-Pro

the newer models may be a bit different, but I'd say be careful with them.  I was given one a few years ago by my father, and carried it for a long time, while many things mentioned above are very true (it's pretty reliable, never had a single problems with it) there are some other things that are also very true which are bad (the trigger pull is horrible).  In addition i didn't see this mentioned before, but i've talked to a few others who've owned them and they had this problem as well.

I've sent mine back 3 times to the factory.  All three times for the same issue, the polymer grip has cracked from just under the slide, all the way down to the mag release.  Two of those times I did not notice when it cracked (as in while i was shooting) but found it when cleaning up.  The last time, and the one that puts me off to using it regularly; cause a great deal of stinging in my hand (turned very red tingly and somewhat numb).  pulled it apart, cleaned it, checked it and the ammo out zero problems.  loaded mag, fired another round and did the same thing this time, my index finger, thumb and part of my hand went completely numb, and the grip was cracked.  These all happened during range time, all with factory winchester white box (no +P etc).

I kept it, I carry it ONLY when my normal EDC weapon wont work (due to clothing etc).  It's small, it fits in the cargo pocket of my cargo pants very easily, can't really tell it's there and it's easy to get to.  I'm VERY leary of having to rely on that firearm in a life or death situation though.

i have one and dont trust it. i shot maybe 120 rnds though it and the slide would jam to the rear i would have to forcefully slap the right side of the slide to get it forward. after careful inspection i noticed the awful machining work done to the slide and rail. i deburd the rail and racked the gun about 200 times while watching tv. after this iv shot about 200 rnds with no more problems. for the price and the fact that you are warned against steel cased ammo from the factory i would not buy it again. cheap gun that needs more expensive ammo or a glock that shoots anything hmmmm il stick to better made guns with better warrenties that dont take 3 months to get back. the price is to close to a subcompact xd to bother with this gun. if someone broke in my house id through it at them and grab a real gun.

I think if it didnt have the lifetime warranty id have gotten rid of it a long time ago, i havent sent it out i will when i get another pistol. I loke the way it looks and if it fired more reliably i would love it, but it sometimes does not fire i dont know if it is a cycling issue or a mag issue but sometimes when i load it up 10 + 1 it wont fire the very first shot ill push the slide foreward and pull the trigger and it will fire but the very next one wont fire. Its a first gen so im going to try to ship it back to them and see if it helps but if not im getting rid of it. I hate to say it too because i really like the firearm, but if it is unreliable and you need it to save your life you are effed in the a.

why are the junk mags for these almost 40$ and my glocks are 20$ and xd's are 30$ they are not even close to being in the same league. it seams from what i hear and read that tuarus is a 50/50 chance of a OK gun or a junk gun. i guess im more mad at my self for taking the chance with them. i just leave mine in my bug out bag as a backup to my glock. oo well was a costly lesson il cool off over it in 10 years when i give it to my son as a beater gun. oo yea note do not use +p ammo in them i use 115 and 147 and they do feed hollow points pretty well
