I had a CZ 40P back in the day. It was a general purpose gun for me. I sold it after I got a VP9. I was currently devoid of a suitable bedside gun, the VP9 being long gone, and saw that P320's, M17 and M18's were selling for dirt on the used market. This led me also to Turkish CZ clones and this CZ. Thankfully, due to the P-09 Nocturne, the previous versions are currently being dumped as well while the Turkish Tanfoglio CZ clones are selling for more than they should. I was going cheap, boys, but after finding out that two out of three magazines that came with it were ProMags and after buying a light and holster I had tripled my initial $200 budget.

One of my former coworkers has one of these and I remember it being a laser for accuracy and pleasant to shoot. Those are the ones I always remember.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it has those photo luminescent night sights. Some people don't like them, but I think that they're great. The gun itself was clean, scratch free, and had little wear...although for some reason the previous owner did not clean the slide rails. I'll let that one go. I'll probably smash these ProMags with a hammer to save the world from the disappointment and frustration.

WTF anyone would buy Promag shit quality when you can buy OEM CZ or Mecgar twins to the OEM at J. Cote for cheap!

I did just buy some close out P07 OEM .22 rimfire Kadet mags at Midway for $26 ea.  The close out price was pretty good.

The P07 is a nice gun, and it does shoot accurately.

I have no idea. I didn't realize it until I saw that one of the mags was dinged up. What the hell would ding up a magazine???! Oh, it's a piece of shit.

It's one of the best I'd say. I think that I'd prefer a P-01, but not in this economy (I'm actually currently paying down some debt).

I have three other guns I could put in my night stand. One is a '96 vintage Beretta 92 Centurion. That has no light provision and should someone wrongfully aquire it, it would be difficult to replace. Another is a frame up 1911 build. That is irreplaceable to me and also has no light rail. Finally is my original Polymer 80 kit gun and that does have a light, but there's no way I'm leaving that in a night stand. That has also been my favorite shooter to date. We'll have to see if the CZ will dethrone it.

Polish up the triger bar and interacting surfaces, the hammer strut and a 15lb hammer spring and the trigger transforms into something magical. I have Cajun Gun Works guts in all my CZs and they truly come alive after that.

I was an early adopter of the -07.  Mine had issues, CZ paid shipping and sent me a new one in 3 weeks.
That one was flawless.  Accurate and reliable, I just preferred my P01 so I didn’t keep it.

Good score.

This gun has a 4-1/2lb single action and they usually do around 9lbs in double which is plenty good enough for me.

That's why I'm an early adopter of nothing. I have to say that I prefer the P-01 aesthetically , but the P-07's wider slide gives more purchase for slide manipulation. It's a relative bargain as well.

I have the big brother, the P09. I wanted a full size nightstand gun.  Added some Dawson sights, CGW springs and called it good till a couple months ago. Then Wager machine to get the slide cut.

That looks like a serious piece. The full size makes more sense for the application, but at some point I decided that if I can't carry it around as well that it's not worth keeping.

Do it. I just got my small back strap in today. A holster came in. Factory mags. I'm ready.

I have both.

Out of the box the P07 is a better gun. It has a better trigger and higher capacity.

The P01 trigger was gritty so I sent it to Cajun Gun Works. Now it's better than the P07, but I could have bought a second P07 for what that cost.

Buddy had a P-07 and I liked shooting it, along with his 75. Got me wanting a CZ, so I eventually bought a P-01 for carrying.

@dmk0210 I've thought about a threaded barrel for my P-01. Where did you get yours, and how does it run with a can?

I ordered mine direct from CZ USA years ago. I just got lucky I guess. Apparently they are hard to find.

It runs good. Both guns are great suppressor hosts. I've used it with a CGS Kraken, TBAC Fly 9, AAC TiRant and Ecco TLX.

I prefer the P01 frame and the P07/09 slide. It would be nice to have that combination in something other than a Shadow 2.  That said, overall this P07 is quite nice. I definitely prefer it with the small back strap. I'm tempted to stipple it.

A really good stippling job would be nice on a P07.

This was my first and last attempt at a full stipple job.

I'd just do the backstrap on the P-07, if at all.

This is the holster I got from R&R holsters. It was $41 on Amazon.

I also came across this shooting comparison. The P-09C with a trigger job compared favorably to a $1500 Shadow 2. I like that a lot.

I took this to the range yesterday. It ran flawlessly and was bad-ass to shoot. The sights come right back on target for me in recoil and I was able to shoot this thing fast and accurately...probably better than anything else I currently own. My now aging eyes picked up the three dots easily which easily kept me in the center zone of my target. I'm extremely satisfied. This is probably the best $350 I've ever spent.

They are a bargain for sure!   You did quite well. I bought mine new, three mags in the box and iirc it was around $450.  I qualified with it as a back up gun at work for giggles but a few guys shot it that day and everyone liked it and shot accurately.

The original P07 had a less strong polymer and a few owners had them actually break.  They revised the frame molding and polymer blend. Iirc the old one was the P07 Duty and the latter one dropped the Duty moniker.

I actually was shopping for a P01 or a PCR but liked this when the shop had neither of those. I already had a Blue Shadow2 and now a full Kadet pistol.  Oh and I bought the Kadet top end .22 kit for the P07.  After some break in it runs.  Initially it wouldn’t get through a ten round mag without stopping.  That P07 with the .22 kit is fun for getting some BS “training” in.  I can used my regular holster with it but like many, it’s a bedside gun with a light on it most of the time.  Out in town running errands I swap it with the 43x in the safe and the swap back after I’m home.

I used to take advantage of the old CZ first responder/veterans discount program but they offloaded it to a midwest retailer to operate and it became rather cumbersome.   Still don’t have an alloy frame CZ P01 and likely won’t bother at this stage.

Same. The alloy frame feels better to me in the hand statically, but in actual shooting I prefer the polymer frame, TBH.

I like my P-07 and P-09. I carry my P-07 and two spare mags on a Galco should rig.

Having owned both this and the alloy version, I prefer this (although the looks take some getting used to for me). The thicker, heavier slide, the wider grip tang, and the way that the polymer absorbs some recoil makes it the one as a shooter for me.

I haven't carried mine yet. She's a thick girl, but it's less bulky than my Beretta 92.
