Is there any pocket holster that is better than the rest and is there one that I should stay away from??  Looking for something cheap but will stay in the pocket on draw like its supposed to.  Any recommendations??

I'm carryin' mine right now in an Uncle Mike's nylon job.  Got some kinda suede-like material on the outside, and a strip of material in the middle..........stays in the pants when ya draw, works fairly well.  It was cheap, works great.

The best I've used is the  Mika Pocket Holster.  Not expensive, quick turn around, and custom options are available.

I like the Kramer pocket holster. Prints like a wallet, smooth and quick draw from the pocket with the holster always staying in my pocket. Mine is years old, looks new.

At a urinal in the big slimy city, or in line at the stop and rob it is very, very fast and otherwise inconspicuous.

A few of the guys I know that pockey carry, use a Rough Out by Side Guard Holsters. I might pick up a jframe this weekend, and it will include at least one of these holsters. (I have a IWB holster from him and I wouldn't buy leather anywhere else.)

Used to use a leather Mitch Rosen holster, after a while the holster started sticking with the gun when i would try to draw the pistol and the whole thing came out of the pocket. Switched over to the Nemesis and it has been perfect so far. Stays in the pocket and the pistol draws out smooth.

I love leather.  I even use a Milt Sparks VM2 for my Glock 36.

But when I pocket carry, there's nothing better than the Desantis Nemesis.  Functionally, it's the best pocket holster I've used and I've gone with the expensive leather ones.  The reason it's great is b/c of it's 'tacky' outer surface that actually grips your pocket's interior like sticky tape so that when you want to draw the gun, it stays.  Every other pocket holster I've used requires you to use your thumb to press down on the holster as you're drawing it.

Here are 4 that I mostly use, all depending on the jeans or shorts, pocket depth (square or tapered), or if used in the thigh cargo pockets when if cargo shorts, etc:

Top Right: Uncle Mike's Size 4. UM recommends a size 3 for the S&W642 but I like the size 4 as it sits a little deeper in the holster.
Bottom Right: DeSantis Gunhide
Upper Left: unknown kydex style with a curve in the holster to conform to the hip/thigh a little better.
Bottom Left: Very hard/rigid leather/pleather. This one gets used the most as it's wide and fits the majority of my pockets. Unknown manufacturer (it had the word "old" in the manufacturer's name.

Yep, I knew that was going to come up, but dang that was quick ....  When CCW was approved for MO, I had a TON of shorts that have shallow pockets.  The choices were to alter all of my shorts to have deeper pockets or modify the grip so that if it was viewed, it wouldnt scream GUN".  I had a "dryer sheet" rubber banded to the grips. It doesnt affect the draw or grip. . IF you happen to get inside my personal space, and IF my untucked t-shirt blouses up and IF the pocket happens to open up a little, all you see is a dryer sheet instead of the grip of my pistol.....

It may not be for everyone, and I've since removed it and 3 years later now shop for shorts that fit the gun w/out have to do this (kind of like trying on jeans/pants w/your IWB holster/gun)....  But at the time, it served me quite well and shot the same.

Plus, if you run out of TP in a public bathroom, you've got a 'back-up' on your person! I bet the dryer sheet could be somewhat irritating to the bottom-side though...

Pretty good improvising there. It's surprising how many garments you have that are just not conducive to concealed carry.

I recommend the Not the uncle mikes #4 but the #3 as it fits a J frame better.  The #4 is big enough to fit a Glock 26/27.

I expected to catch a little shit over it...

There was a discussion abt this same situation and various methods that didnt work.  Some used hankies, etc, draped over the top of the gun but still them lose in the pocket, which means when you draw, you are basically trying to draw/shoot a pistol surrounded by a loose "washcloth" and that's not a good thing.  Someone had prev mentioned the dryer sheet and that they had tried it.  I tried it and it surprisingly worked well for my situation until I could change it.

I know you are supposed to "dress around your gun", but part of the issue is that not all shorts, off the shelf, work well for ccw and I didnt want to have only a few pairs of "gun shorts".  I wanted to be able to "add a jframe to whatever I was wearing that day and not have to change to a deeper pocket shorts or be forced to change to a shirt that I didnt tuck it, etc.

I'm starting to wonder abt the UM size 3 that I tried.  When I tried the size 3, the trigger and triggergard wouldnt fit into the pocket holster and were basically sitting ontop of the holster w/the barrel covered.  I wonder if what I tried was a size 2 that had been switched in error, or if that's really how it's supposed to fit.  Regardless, I'm happy w/the size 4 as it isnt loose at all.

A lot of people recommending the Nemisis.  How well does it break up the outline??

I bought the Uncle Mike's because it was the only thing my gun shop had to pocket carry a j frame, but when I'm using it anyone who looks can clearly tell I have a handgun in my pocket.

I'm thinking about swapping it out for the bigger size to see if that helps with the printing.  If the Nemisis is that much better though, I may just try it.

I bought a Nemesis for my 340 and returned it the next day. It's really suited for square pockets of which I don't have and is more fitted for the J frame than the UM holsters. The Mika holsters I have had seemed to be the best concealing holsters, but they have no retention and after having my 642 fall out of my pocket while seated at a booth, I sold it and conceal AIWB exclusively.
