Kel Tec P3AT or spend the extra 3 bills for a Kahr PM9? Help me decide. |
Agree 100%. While the PM9 is marginally bigger than the P3AT, it offers a quantum leap in capability. I've gotten to the point where I seldom even notice I have my PM9 in my pocket. |
| If your gonna use it for a carry piece, I wouldn't spend a fortune on the gun (unless I had a fortune, but I don't). If you keep it in a holster its gonna get banged up and scratched some what, so I would get something cheap, but reputable. So in this case it would be the kel-tec. |

I have both. The PM9 is a nice summer carry gun with my FIST IWB holster its easy to forget it's there. However i wouldn't call it a pocket gun. Its a little heavy and big for pocket carry IMO. The P3AT is a great gun for pocket carry. I often slip mine in my pocket, in a DeSantis Nemesis holster when i'm messing around the house. Its reliable enough but its contruction doesn't give me a lot of confidence and its power is..well marginal. It is uncomfortable for me to shoot more than 50 rounds as i have largish hands that allow it to move too much in recoil. My winter carry piece is a Glock 27 with a G23 mag and adapter piece. |
| To further complicate the question..... Kel Tec P11 vs Kahr PM9. Kel tec half the price of the Kahr, both 9mm, both almost the exact same size. Kahr obviously the better of the two pistols, but worth double the money? Just wondering what you thought becuase I am going through a similar questions on which to get. |

My pocket gun is a Beretta 950 .25acp. Yeah, I know .25acp bounces of peoples foreheads and stuff, but it is a pocket gun and it beats foul language. Oh and BTW, if I ever have to use it, I will not stop shooting until it's empty. Then I may or may not reload and continue shooting. |
The PM9 and MK9 are the same size gun. The MK is a steel frame gun, while the PM is polymer framed. Some claim the PM is less reliable, but I have had no reliablilty issues with mine. YMMV. |

I guess I must have an atypical experience. I had 2 Kahrs which had problems with the slide locking back. After 2 trips to the factory for both of them ($30 shipping on me each time) I traded them off and got the P3AT. I've fired about 700 rounds through it and it functions 100% now though it did sometimes not lock into battery when I first got it. There is no gun that's easier to take with you no matter what, period. I carry some form of 1911 as my main carry gun but the KelTec has been a great gun for me at less than 1/2 of the Kahr pistols. As always YMMV |
I just picked up a Pony (double action version)....was a safe queen for a guy. I'll be shooting it at the Hun Farm for the 1st time. I love the fact that you can carry it so easily. |
