Do you guys really like them?
I cant seem to bring myself to get one.
I go look at them and I like a few, but I just dont really like things in my pocket.

Right now my carry gun is a Kahr P9.  I like it a lot and I am very comfortable with it.
It is either on my hip in an MTAC,
or I appendix carry with a sticky holster when wearing shorts that have no belt. (shorts with drawstring)

I though I might get one and carry it in the pocket of my cargo shorts.
That seems like it would be the best place for it.

I have to carry one from time to time. Pretty much school and work I have my pocket gun. I keep my G17 in my briefcase but I still have a pocket gun on me. While it's not against the law to carry at a college in my state it is against school policy and if I was caught with one they would kick me out of school permanently and I can't have that happening so a pocket gun is my only option. I work for a company that allows it but if I scare a customer off that spots my gun again I would get in trouble so I have to do a pocket gun at work.

I do think however that if you don't have to carry a pocket gun then you shouldn't. After work and on the weekends I'm all about the G17 open carry or G19 concealed carry depending on my plans for the day.

I use the movie theater shooting as an example. Do I really want to aim my .380 across a large movie theater? Hell no I don't, I would but I don't want to have to so for that reason I always carry a Glock 19 with night sights concealed in that type of situation.

My pocket gun is a Ruger LCP, I love it. I tried others and for a myriad of reasons I ended up going with the LCP.

To answer you question, yes I like them. Is it my primary choice, no.
But if the option because of the circumstance requires me to either go unarmed or slip my little LCP in pocket, I'll take the LCP.

They are really only suitable for the times when you otherwise wouldn't have a gun.  I carry mine when I run, that's about it.  Thinking of getting a belly band type holster and carrying it at work (currently don't carry at work because I can't afford to get fired).

They do come in handy. I often carry my pocket gun on my days off. It's just much easier to toss a pocket holster and pocket gun in the front pocket. Don't have to dress around the gun at all.

What do you guys recommend as pocket guns?  A lot of the time I don't carry and would if I had something small. I bought a smith 38 special airweight intending to go ankle, but I just look like I'm on house arrest no matter what I wear.  The uncle mikes pocket holster I bought for t just seemed like an accidental discharge waiting to happen. I know some guys wear a small 32 on a necklace holster?  But that seems like a bullet to the chin in a panic draw.

I usually carry my G27 in my crossbred but there times I carry my Beretta 22 Bobcat when it seem impossible to carry my EDC. And if anyone give you any slack about it ask, them if you can shoot them in the face a few times and see if they are still laughing about it then.

If you can get used to the long, heavy trigger pull, a Ruger LCP.

I've owned a number over the years, as I'm a firm believer in the "anything you have on you is better than anything you've left behind" school of thought.

For me, they fall into two flavors.  The true, pocket gun, which is a serious caliber revolver that lives in the pocket when you're wearing layered clothing and cannot get to your primary.  Serious caliber because the environment provides for a larger package, and revolver because it can be fired right through the pocket rather than trying to haul it out into the open first.  Currently, my "pocket" gun is a Charter .44 bulldog, with a speedloader in the opposite pocket.

The second flavor, and I think what you're talking about, is deep cover.  Usually, this means sub-caliber, although I've been looking real hard at the PF9 lately.  For years, I carried a Jennings .22 (don't laugh, one of the most reliable little pistols I've ever owned), either in a pocket slip, loose (which I don't advise with semi-autos, particularly those with manual safeties) or (my favorite) a false wallet I'd cobbled together out of cardboard and leather.  After fifteen or so years and a couple of thousand rounds, I gave that pistol to my daughter on her 18th birthday.

I replaced it with a Keltec P32, which I really like.  With the auxilliary clip (don't forget the locktite) it'll slide down the back of your pants and completely disappear behind just about any belt.  Doesn't weigh anything, isn't thick enough to be uncomfortable, and loaded with Corbons (for which it's explicitly rated) meets the minimum power level I find to be acceptable.

As I noted earlier, though, I'm looking at the PF9 It's half an inch longer and half an inch taller than the P3AT, and chambered in 9mm.  Still weighs about nuthin', and has a decent rep for reliability.

Some caveats.  When I carried that .22, I practiced A WHOLE LOT.  I could bounce a pop can at forty-five feet five out of six rounds with it, shooting pretty quickly.  If you can't do that or at least get close, don't carry a .22 if you can help it.  Kill/incapacitate zones with something that tiny are much narrower than with anything bigger you're likely to use.

The P32, while rated for the Corbons, won't take them as a regular diet, so your practice will have to be adjusted accordingly.  At CCW contact range (about 20 ft), the Corbons will hit nearly eight inches low, compared to Winchester white box .32acp.  So practice head shots with the target/plinking ammo, and you'll be getting CoM hits with the hot stuff.  But make sure you shoot some of the hot stuff too, so you won't be surprised when you touch one off in extremis.

With Corbons, the P32 hits about like a +P .38spl out of a 2" barreled revolver, according to claims.

I haven't played with the P3AT or the Ruger copy, and I haven't yet managed to get my hands on a PF9, so I cannot vouch for either of them.

If you opt for a revolver in a jacket pocket, be sure to practice from the pocket!  It ain't as easy as it sounds, or as it looks in the movies.

Hope this helps.

My airweight smith is perfect with gym shorts, or my sleeping pants. Very convenient, as I don't have to get fully dressed to take the dogs out in the morning. Wake up, find shirt, stick pistol in pocket, leash up dogs, light cig and go.

Thanks for the input. I like the airweight as a small gun but I would like something I can put in my pant pocket during the summer on loose fitting shorts, and I think the revolver cylinder is just too fat. I like e idea of a 9mm. My friend has a pf 9 I'm gng to try in the next few weeks, he said it has a very stiff and Long trigger pull but other than that its solid.   I will let you know once I try it what I think. He wants to try my 38 airweight.

KT PF9 is about the same as a P9(couple ounces lighter). Check out the Kahr CM9 or their .380.

I frequently pocket carry a Kahr CM9. It is the biggest that I would be able to pocket, but the 9mm chambering and real sights put it head and shoulders above the lcp or p3at.

I pocket carry a S&W 649. I wanted to get a pocket pistol just to have but I have no interest in carrying a .380 or smaller. The 649 is very shootable, I can conceal the thing in pajama pockets ( I had to try it) and iv got 5 rounds of 357 magnum on tap. It hides away like a little mouse gun but the 357 is much more comforting IMO.

I'll do whatever it takes to conceal my USP 9 rather than go with a pocket gun.

I don't have a "pocket gun".  I carry a G26 IWB, and while it might technically FIT in a pocket, it is way to big to conceal that way.

Recently, I have been starting to think a lot about pocket pistols and the benefits of having a BUG.  If I go that route I will probably get something in .380 (probably an LCP) because I would want to to be TRULY pocket sized.  This would not replace my primary, but it would be a great option to have in my left pocket in the event that I couldn't get to my primary for some reason.

I've carried one daily for over twenty years now, would feel just as naked without one in my pocket as I would without my wallet.

It serves as a BUG to whatever is on my belt, and as a less-than-optimal primary on those occasions where the only other option would be no gun at all or off-body carry.

So yes, I guess you would have to say I like them.

My opinion here:

I am one of the guys that REALLY tries to take my CCW with me everywhere, except I have never been comfortable enough to CCW properly for fear of printing, etc. Even with a G19 in a Comptach C-Tac, I feel like it just sticks out like a sore thumb. It makes me paranoid, so I mostly carry in a small bag, etc.

With that being said, if I am dressed to where I just can't hide a weapon, I'll try to take my beretta tomcat .32 I can fit it in a jacket pocket easily and nobody would ever know. Yes, it's only a .32, but i believe if I shot you in the face 4 or 5 times with the hollow points I carry in it, it will probably hurt

The gun:
