Well, I don't own one, never shot one.........but, I have read alot about them and other DW's at 1911forum.com  Lots of good talk about Dan Wesson's over there. Good pics as well. A DW Bobtail is on my list.  Hope this helps.

I have a Pointman 3, which before CZ buyout was a lower priced model than the Pointman 7.  I love my PM3, fwiw.  I've shot 1 PM7 Bobtail in .45acp, and it felt wonderful.

I have read many positive comments from the Cult of Dan Wesson. I would buy one, but I am trying to limit full size 1911 purchases for a while.

However, I am eyeing that CBOB and will pounce as soon as I see one at fair price.

I have a PM 1S-very good pistol, extremely accurate, and as solid as a rock. DW 1911's are much loved by their owners, by and large

I have about 1,200 rounds thru mine and it has been 100% reliable from the box. Accurate too.

Mine did have in imporperly fit thumb safety and an firing pin shild that was slighly out of spec thus preventing the lowering of my adjustable rear sight. My Father in Law broke the thumb safety trying to correct the bothced fitting.  A quick trip to the local gunsmith remedied both of those issues. I could have sent the Pointman 7 back to DW, but the gunsmith was local and probably much faster and well worth the $59 I spent including the new thumb safety (all he did on the firing pin sheild was remove a small burr).

Like I said though the gun ran 100% out of the box and while not properly fit the thumb safety did actually work.  Their are 1911's produced that have considerably more demons that need to be exercised in order to run properly. So all things considered I would give my DW Pointman 7 an 8.5 out of 10.
