If there's a cure, I don't want it! Pics tomorrow, but I picked up a 17-2 today with a pinned barrel. Google says the 17-2s were made from '61-'67. Wide serrated trigger, wide checkered hammer, extra large wood grips (target grips?), ribbed barrel K6112XX. Mechanically, perfect. BUT... Someone must have introduced it to a hellacious solvent because the bluing is stripped off in a few area. Not holster wear, definitely chemical action. I got it for 275 at the Manchester, NH fun show. So, seeing as the finish is wrecked, collector value would probably not be effected by a refinish job. Any recommendations for a good blueing? How much do you estimate a reblueing to cost? This revolver has the potential to be beautiful. I know its going to shoot well. This might have the sweetest trigger I have ever pulled. Oh, I also picked up a 586-1, blued, 4" barrel, for 260. Not pinned. |

Just to be safe, get a professional opinion. That said... I DID get my Model 28 refinished because it got left in a puddle of water*, and was severely rusted *In my gun safeI had a can of stuff that absorbed water; it absorbed so much it overflowed, and ruined the finish of my Model 27. |

17-2 has the target hammer and target trigger. The stocks aren't original. Ammonia will remove bluing, so it's possible they spilled copper solvent on it. I would send it to Ford's.
You stole the 586. |
