I'm buying a 1911 as a gift and am looking for a nice wood presentation case for it with no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks |

As in a "real" gift? I would say "real" is where the weapon exceeds $800, which would be the floor price of one of those nice cases. You can check Ebay, gunbroker, etc, but you are not going to find cheaper than $175 for a wooden case. If it's an old Colt you might want to call customer service and ask them if they might sell you one of their long blue boxes. They are a little longer than a sheet of legal paper (8.5"x14") and are blue cardboard with the rampant colt in the center. they have open cell egg crate foam and are used for S70 repros and WWIs. I have an extra one laying around that I would send you, but I have it earmarked for my father's DS that he's getting for Xmas. |

I am actually thinking about a s70 repro as I think it's a fitting gift. I don't want to choose for someone else what "extras" come with it and a s70 would make a good base gun. Anyways, that gunbroker link is just what I'm looking for but I didn't realize it would cost so much! Any other ideas? It sounds like a s70 would come with a decent case? |

Beautiful work, but the lack of pricing on the site doesn't bode well for the wallet. |
That's what I was thinking...VERY nice cases but if you have to ask how much... |
