Several years ago I got lucky and found a GI bring-back in a hardware store.  Most of the bluing is gone and I am now having a problem with surface rust.  I keep it lubed with CLP but I still rust forming.  Any tips on storing.  Its non-shooter just mainly use it to show off.  Thanks to those that respond.

Invest in a big box of desiccant powder. No humidity in the pistol's storage box = no rust on the pistol. That is the only thing I can think of that does not include refinishing of smearing grease all over that old colt. Both are probably suggestions that would not be good ideas.

Seal it in a "Vapor paper" pack.

This is how the military and industry now store metal to prevent rust.
You don't need to slather it with grease and you can re-seal the pack by replacing the sheet of paper after you show it to someone.
Often you can re-use the same sheet.

DO NOT use ordinary plastic bags, they pass moisture and allow the vapor barrier to escape.

Wipe the gun with CLP to neutralize finger prints, wrap in the paper, and seal in the bag...... No rust for at least 10 years.
