My local gun store has one in stock, used, for $750 plus tax. Is this a good deal on the 70? Or is there better to be found out there? This is my first and only 1911 (for a while, at least ) so I want a good one. If you dont think the 70 is a good one to go with then let me know that too. Thanks guys.

if it is in original condition with a good finish, i'd say go for it and it never hurts to try to negotiate. now if it has gone through some table top gunsmithing and everything is FUBAR, then it isn't such a good deal inspect it and do some safety checks on it http://coolgunsite.com/funcheck/function.htm |

I was watching one on Gunbroker a couple of weeks ago. Excellent condition, a beautiful gun. I forgot to go back and bid and it ended. It sold for $525. must have been one I missed. Seems all the used ones on gunbroker START at 850 It does seem that way. I can't believe I forgot to go back and bid. Of course if I did I wouldn't have gotten it for that small of an amount. I'm never that lucky. Here's the link to the page: Colt Series 70 sold for $525 |
| Please, no offence but I was thinking BS. The poor guy must have miss read and did not see "reserve not met" at the end of the auction. Your a solid man, thank's for the link! I bet the guy who won it just about pissed himself. Can you imagine the stress he went through waiting for some vulture to punce and try to out bid him in the last seconds before the end..... I have been there (ebay).. |

I have been there (ebay).. I had to look several times just to be sure it was a No Reserve auction. The guy that bought it has to be pumped for sure. On Gunbroker if you bid within the last fifteen minutes, the auction will extend for fifteen minutes. Basically the auction will continue to be extended for fifteen minutes as long as there is active bidding within that fifteen minute extension. Keeps you from getting sniped like on eBay. I've done some sniping there and have been sniped more times than I can count. |
