I have a gen 2 glock 22. When I go to disassemble the upper from the lower. I do a safety check. Make sure the trigger is depressed. I pull the slide lock down and push the upper forward off the lower but something is catching it. I then have to pull the press the trigger and I feel something click and the upper comes right off. I am having trouble determining what is catching.
I was thinking it is the trigger bar catching, but not sure. |

You don't need to pull the slide very far rearward, maybe a 1/4" if that. Once it is an 1/8 to 1/4" rearward, simple press down on the slide lock lever, while holding the lever down release the slide slowly.
If you pull to far rearward it will cock the firearm. ~g |
| when i break mine apart, i actually clear the pistol, and recock it. then i squeeze the slide back with my right hand and pull the release down with my left. while holding the release down, i release the slide, and pull the trigger, and the slide pretty much falls off. |

If you have to pull the trigger again to get the slide off then you're pulling the slide too far back to pull down on the takedown tabs. You don't have to move it that far at all, and certainly not "1/8" to 1/4"" of an inch as stated earlier in the thread. I cleared then cocked firearm, press the trigger (so at this point its depressed), Pull the slide a little ways back and pull the slide locks down, push the forward. As it goes forward I feel it catch and the trigger moves forward. I press the trigger and the slide will come off. |

Ok, I just went and played with my Gen 2 G17, it takes about a half inch of rearward slide travel to reset the striker and trigger. The only thing I can think of is your striker might be hanging up and resetting with just a small amount of slide travel. Strip the slide of its striker components and clean out the channel and parts, its easy to do and we can help you. |
