I have a feeding problem with a G30, thought I'd see if the Glockophiles here could help. It feeds HP's, Ball, etc, just fine but jams up on semiwadcutters constantly. Cycling live rounds (yes I know this isn't the ideal thing to do) I can see the round clear the mag lips and the follower shoves the back of the case up the breechface while the barrel is still tilted down. This results in a locked up gun just like what is happening at the range. Any suggestions or is this normal for the G30.  I hope not because all my other Glocks work just fine on any bullet, except of course for lead.

SWC's are known to not work well in compact guns, not just yours. Dare I suggest you feed it a more friendlier nose shape?

I guess you may be right. I just always expected a Glock, of any size, to perform better in this area than other guns.

I loaded up some 200 grain Hornady jacketed SWC's @1.267 COL over 5.0 grains of Titegroup for my G-30.
They feed fine, but they don't extract unless the magazine is empty. Awesome accuracy at 25 yards. I'm going to bump up the load a little and see if it helps.

Wow! that's a long COL for SWC's in 45. Mine are right at 1.235". I could see where the longer COL helps feeding but the extraction? I'd bump that load up, I usually run TG for that bullet at 5.2 or 5.3grs, also with your extreme COL I'd think pressures are very low.

Actually, are you sure those bullets aren't engaging the rifling at that length?  I'm tempted to try an XD45compact out to see if it can handle SWC's. I'd also be able to shoot lead through it, which would be a bonus. If it's not any better I could always sell it for hardly a loss.

I used to run that load at 1.275 COL in my H&K USP .45. The Hornady JSWC has a long nose, so I don't think it's hitting the rifling.

I agree my pressures must be very low. I get a smoke streak down one side, no case expansion and no primer indicators at all. brass would not go over my head, most hit me in the chest (had to single load them).

I'm loading some tonight with 5.3 grains Titegroup.

Try a longer COL, they still feel 'chunky' when you cycle them, but I've never had a fail-to-feed with that Hornady bullet in an H&K or a Glock. They are so accurate that I'm willing to make them work.

I'll extend them out a little longer. I hope to get them to work, that bullet is very accurate and you gotta love the clean punched holes.
