I posted this in the mag section and got nothing, so I thought I would try here.
I installed an extended slide release on my 1911, and it works fine with all my mags except the chips, seems like they have to much slack in the followers and they just move to the side and won't engage. Has anyone else experinced this? |

The McCormick followers can be tweaked to fit your slide stop. On some 1911's, the slide stop can prevent the McCormick mag from dropping. I had one mismatch that I had to rip out and the follower and spring came out of the magazine body. It was a 'factory' 8 round Colt magazine (meaning Metalform).
The Wilson kit is nice, but the Tripp (IMO) is better. |

Excuse me for asking, but WHY would you want an extended slide release? Easier to hit, why not? Well, for the reason you describe above for starters. You want to hit the slide release & lock your slide when you least need it locked?
In addition, extended slide releases are know to "bounce" under recoil & lock the slide. I've seen it happen. Hey, your gun & your $$$$, obviously you can do it how you like. I just wished to warn ya on the hazard(s). My .o2 |
