Is the Kel-Tec P-3AT a gun that you would put money into??? I had seen one ported and was thinking of getting this done, along with maybe a custom Dura-Coat, adding an Armalaser, and a custom IWB holster ???Would it be worth it to put this kinda money into it??? Thanks- D.C. |

Porting - NO -> I don't see the advantages outweighing the potential drawbacks. Duracoat - MAYBE -> Some have done this and it looks good, but there are a number of choices. ArmaLaser - NO -> It is a pocket pistol. That said, if you must have a laser, that is the one to get. K&D Holsters makes a nice pocket model for it. Ask if you are interested. IWB Holster - NO -> See answer above. If you are going to IWB, get a P11 or the new PF9. Or get a Kahr. Just my opinions for your consideration. They are great little pistols, and I would put money into one; I just am not big on the suggestions you made. BTW, I also know of a guy who ports them if you are still interested - I can give you a link if you ask. |

K&D Holsters - holsters for P-3AT (and others) with or without the ArmaLaser. Top quality, excellent service, but the wait is curently about 10 weeks due to them being so busy and moving to a new location. Accurate Plating & Weaponry - these guys are experts on Kel-Tecs, and actually do the Hard Chrome finish for the Kel-Tec factory (KT outsources it to them). They do porting on Kel-Tecs, and also offer a variety of non-factory finishes, the nicest of which is called Ceraguard. Ceraguard is what I will get on my pistol when it needs refinished. | Do you have an idea on the price of CERAGUARD for a p-32/3AT? heD.C. |

While I don't see myself having any of my KTs ported, I have considered having the slide of my oldest one refinished (if/when it ever needs it -- so far, so good I plan to send it to Robar when that day comes. I have a couple of Berettas finished in NP3 and it is the best aftermarket firearms finish I have encountered, bar none. |
| I saw a Robar-finished P-3AT in a magazine once, but it had their Roguard finish, with some minor parts done in the NP3. It looked nice. To keep the costs low, Kel-Tec doesn't spend a lot of time on finishing the slide. They get the bar stock and CNC machine the surfaces that need to be removed, but they don't touch some areas, so the finish isn't always perfectly smooth. When I decide to get mine refinished I am going to strip the bluing away and carefully smooth the rough areas before sending it off. No, it won't improve function any, but should make it look as nice as possible. |
Not at all a bad idea... I'll have to remember that. |
