With the slide off the frame and the recoil spring/guide installed the guide has a slight bow in it . Is this normal ?
It's the factory polymer guide .

Yes, they are all this way. It is perfectly normal. I have previously had two 92A1s. And, others I have seen were the same.

Glock, H&K, S&W, Springfield, etc. with polymer guides will almost always have a bow in them.

I did not like the look of the polymer guide rod in my new 92a1,so I ordered a steel one from MidwayUSA for $25 , and it came with a nice spring.

Functions perfectly,and looks better.

How about USGI 15rndrs?  These work okay in the 92A1s?

Any magazine that will work in a 92FS will work in the 92A1.

I personally prefer the standard 15 round factory mags.

I've tried the 15's, 17's and 20's in my 92A1 and they all ran perfectly.  Since I use my 92 as my primary HD gun I keep the 20 round mags in it and as spares and then use the 15's as emergency spares attached to my bug out bag while the 17's stay in my range bag and are used for range shooting.  It's a huge benefit that there are so many 92 mags out there and keeping a lot of them isn't a bank breaker.

Is it a captured guide rod or did you revert to the original 92 set up?
