I saw some pictures of HK's with cracked frames with no information about the pictures.  The frames seemed to be cracked identically.  They look similiar to the one with the extremely over powered loads posted earlier in the Glock 35 v. Usp Tactical thread.

If anyone has any information about this I would like to read it.  Thanks in Advance.

over-powered handloads. Severely over-powered. The difference is the HK is designed to split the same way everytime this happens and the glock is not, which is why the HKs all look the same when the Glocks vary in the kabooms. It sounds safer in my opinion, but have never seen either kaboom personally.

Over powered.  But how much?  Like 200% ?  300%?

Anyone know?

Does it matter? An overcharge is an overcharge.

Just say no.

It matters to me.  I know a HK can shoot +P no problem.  All day,  All night,  HK's love the stuff.  They're made to shoot high charged cartridges.

I'm just curious what tolerances the frame is capable of sustaining.  In the pictures of the cracked frame there appeared to be no damage to the slide or barrel.

I would say that a double charge of any kind is sure to do some damage to any pistol.  Check out what happens when you don't check powder charges when using a progressive loader.
HK KB

And all he got was a minor cut in the palm and was out $125 for a new frame.  Bitch about HK CS all you want but when they replace a frame that is obviously not their problem and then fix the scratched slide to boot for only $125, IMO that is damned good service.

Did the frame come back with the same SN or did they ammend the original SN with a letter or character?

Most mfgrs will use the same S/N in order to not have the owner go thru a new NICS check.

I saw a glock that had the frame replaced & if I recall correctly, there was a added character  to indicate a replacement frame.  Armalite replaced a lower for me with the same SN but there is a US prefix in front of the SN. I needed the preban SN for CT. They said it is in their books as a rebuild.

I had a Tac Kaboom recently due to a double charge.  Had the bottom replaced for $160 and $65 for ambi-safety.  The gun is now mismatched serial number wise (frame/slide/barrel).  Don’t use reloads.

As I understand it HK has engineered the bottom half to help protect the shooter in case this happens.  The detonation goes down the mag well and in my case both grips split on the forward part of the handgrip.

Slide release went left, safety lever broke, mag fell in pieces at my feet. I survived it just fine and would have been more than happy to completely junk the pistol if I could get out of it without any injury.

HK costs more… but its worth it.  At least to me.

Oh, always wear eye protection.

Ya I agree how much is too much cause the USP can also shoot 45 SUPER if ya replace the springs often enuff.
