| I'm thinking of joining GSSF, mostly for the gun discount. I would also consider taking the Glock armorer course with membership. It appears to me that if I join for one year I can't buy a discounted Glock until my second year of membership, however if I pay for two years membership up front then I can get the discount right away. Is this correct? |

i paid my membership in august, got my card in september, got my gun in october. when the new year rolled around in january, i bought another one. 1 per calendar year!. now, though, when i renew again august, I can't buy one until 2012.
DANG! I just looked at the GSSF site. the "12 months of membership" is new, and unfortunately, there is usually no way to get a membership card in a month. i suppose they had too many people only joining for 1 year and getting 1 or 2 guns. |

I suppose this explains it:
REVISED GSSF MEMBER DISCOUNT PISTOL PURCHASE PROGRAM "Effective May 1, 2011" |

Quoted:
I thought they were still going to make Gen 3 Pistols , so now they only list Gen 4 G19 , thats wrong, guess i wont be buying a Glock after all . Ive read nothing but horror about Gen 4 pistols, Glock is definatley going down hill and fast. Then I suggest you do more research.

It sounds like the first opportunity to buy one at a discounted price (if a new member is willing to sign up only one year at a time) is when you get the purchase coupon after renewal for the second year. So does that mean those who sign up for multiple year will get one purchase coupon after Jan 1st during each year the membership is in effect? Likewise, the family membership will get three coupons after Jan 1st during each year of effective membership? This is confusing. Overall, it seems to make no sense any more for a potential GSSF member to sign up for only one year if one intends to buy a discounted priced Glock...unless one is willing to wait an entire year. Signing up for the 2 year member ship costs the same as signing up for year one plus renewing the second year (35+25=60). The difference is that you will get the purchase coupon one year earlier and can proceed with the purchase. I don't know about you, but I can't wait the extra year unless it is for waiting them to clean out the Gen4 bugs. Anyway, that's the logic I've made out after reading all that new Glock pdf's. Hopefully the logic is correct. Somebody corrects me if I'm wrong. |
