Can someone tell me about the new(er) Sig extractors (exposed) versus the older internal ones.  I've owned and sold two P226's (internal extractors) only to have seller's remorse each time.  I like the new P226's with the rails, but also like the simpler look of the older internal extractor now that the external ones are prominent.  (Didn't Kimber go to an external extractor on their 1911's only to go back to internal extractors? -Genuine question, if so why?)  While I'm a fan of the Surefire rail lights and have used all models of the X series, I also like the older Surefire Military lights on Sigs.  As to my purpose, I am looking for a new (in box) P226 in 9mm for senimental reasons only.  Thanks in advance.

In my experience, both internal and external SIG extractors work fine. The difference between them relates to how the slide is constructed.

Internal extractors were used in the older, stamped (and somewhat rust prone) slide versions of SIG classic pistols.

External extractors are used in the newer SIGs with solid, milled slides.
