I've never bought a new Glock before but finally broke down and got a new G17.
My question is when did they change the finish on the slides?  The Tenifer finish
on my old Glocks (which all have to be at least 10 years old or older) have a dull grey
look to them.  This new Glock has almost a satin black finish to it.

Did they they change the Tenifer process and when did new Glocks change?

They changed the finish that is applied over the Tenifer.

Don't know when they did it, but I like it.

The slide will probably get gray looking with age.  I know my G22 used to look very black, but the Slide looks gray now from holster wear and such.

Thanks for the info. I just never bought a new Glock as all of mine were used and
old when I got them.  If I hadn't known better (I got it from a big box retailer) my
first impression is that the slide was refinished.

Nice to know the Tenifer is still there.

They made the finish alot stronger than what it use to be.
