I have yet to drop my load on my next 1911. I've been racking my brain on this decision. At the moment I'm contemplating the finish. I'm a big fan of polymer coats. I have a custom rifle that is teflon coated and luv it. I once read an article covering EB pistols, and in it he made the comment that only blued or stainless pistols would ever leave his shop (something to do with the functioning of parts) yet we now have the Special Forces w/ coated finish. The lower end guns of most shops only offer blued or parkerized, while their upper end models have some sort of coating ( 1/2 doz diff names for basically the same thing) I'm not a fan of stainless or 2-tone pistols, I plan to go "all black", but I despise rust and hate to have to constantly wipe down. I prefer to purchase an OTD pistol that I don't have to send off for xtra work. Any thoughts. |

I have a Springfield PRO with the Birdsibg Black Teflon that is proving quite durable. However I would look very HARD at a Nighthawk with the diamond black finish. That finish is BULLETPROOF. It's not a coating but a molecular bonding with the base metal and hard as nails. |

Had my Kimber done in hardchrome by Tripp Research. Very happy with it, had it back quickly too.
