Would I be better off just buying a Dan wesson bobtail for slightly under $900.00 or buying a Kimber Pro carry and having it cut to the bobtail profile? I love Kimbers and it is 900.00 also, so I need to know about what it would cost to cut it. Thanks Travis |
| I wouldn't fool with the kimber. That is going to violate the factory warranty and God knows there are enough Kimber problems out there. If you are that hard core about having a bobtail Kimber, then spend a year putting a good 5,000 rounds through it in factory configuration. If you don't have any hangups or breakdowns after that, the chances are you have a solid shooter and can move on to the bobtail work with some confidence. |

The only possible reason to do that to a Kimber is if you want an alloy frame. The only reason I bought a Kimber instead of a Dan Wesson myself is because I wanted something lighter than my steel framed 1911s. The Dan Wesson is really nice, you will be pretty happy with it. The only problem with the CBOB is now you have another choice to make, .45 or 10mm.

Not a problem, .45 acp. Travis |
