I know if you buy two or more handguns from one store within 5 days, you have to fill out some form.  What if you buy a gun at one store, then a few days later go to another store and buy one?  Do you have to still fill out the multiple purchase form?  Thanks.

It is only for a multiple sale at one location. However if they notice you shopping and being called in at different locations it may raise a flag?

The buyer personally does not have to fill out the form. The FFL must fill out the multiple sale and report it to the required agencies.

So no, it does not apply if you purchase from 2 different stores within the 5 day period.

I've purchased a rifle and a pistol at the same time with no issues several times.  Not sure about 2 pistols.

This doesn't apply in AL.

I can buy 40 guns with one form from one store at the same time, IIRC.

Um, yeah your wrong. The reporting requirement is a federal law which supersedes any state law. Your FFL is just not telling you that he is filling out the form.

...but keep in mind that the same inspectors work most of the gunstores in an area and that if they see your name on the log books of a couple of FFL's within a close time frame they will make note of it. In fact, at the present time they are making notes about anybody whose name appears "frequently" in an FFL's log book due to the mexico gunrunning shit.
