Here we go I just bought a new 1911 but it has fixed sights front and rear. The POI is unacceptablly to the left of the POA. So here is the question before I order a millet adjustable rear sight. >>>> Do I need anything besides a brass punch, mallet, and gun oil to remove the old one?? I can't find any screws attaching it to the slide frame. Quick replies appreciated. |

Perhaps I should be more specific... Fired 150 rounds at mixed targets and found that at 10 yards the rounds hit 1.5" to the left of the point of aim. Past 25 yards they are completely off the paper. Althought I found compinsating for this by aiming to the right of the target the idea of owning a gun with off center sights tends to keep me up at night. Well that and the fact that I work the nightshift.... Need ammo, ammo costs money, money is earned by working, work to earn money to buy ammo to shoot guns on days off from work........ damn it all makes sense now. |
Ahem... Well the front sight appears to have been machined with the slide itself.. so I doubt that it is going to move. The rear sight is a .333 inch base dovetail according to my calipers. |
Hmm.. I thought about that but the idea of sitting on the back of my truck knocking the rear sight back and forth trying to line it up properly makes me wince. |
