Took out brand new RIA GI. was shooting S&B round ball. Accuracy was great and everything was going well until in the middle of the magazine a round got in front of the ejector and the gun wouldnt go into battery. Dropped the mag and opened the slide to let the round fall out.  This is my first 1911 and i dont know why this occrued or how to fix this. It did not happen again it only happened one time in 50 rounds. Any advice?

Shoot more ammo.  Find out how regularly this occurs.

I know what you mean we are short on .45ACP but I have picked up over a 1000+ rounds of 9mm from wally world in the past two weeks but 0 45.

Only 45 i seen on shelves is wwb $55 per 100 at big 5, i passed.

Its probably the follower.  My RIA Tactical had the same problem, but a few chip McCormick mags later it runs perfectly.

i only have the one mag it came with so i will definetly buy some extras.

Shoot some more with different mags when you find some ammo. That sounds like a mag issue. I am also assuming you cleaned it before you shot it?

If it continues to do it with other mags, contact their customer service. They will fix it.

Yes i cleaned and lubed before shooting. This is the first issue ive had with any of my pistols, even my P3AT has been 100%.  So what brand of magazine should i try, that are of good value /cheap?

Agreed. 50 rounds is not past a "break in" period.

IMO
1) Gun needs more rounds through it
2) Magazine issue (try Wilson, Tripp, ACT or CMC)
3) Gun issue (only if issue continues past 500 rounds)
