I want to send my slide to Glockmeister to have them cut it for an RMR. I notice they also offer their cover plate as an add-on as well. What is this for? Is it necessary for use with the RMR? They don't have any helpful description of it on their site.

It is so that if you take off the RMR you can screw that cover plate on and not have a big gap on your slide
