Range Report: New G30 > Glock

One word: WOW!

Seriously great gun. Accurate as heck, a solid shooter.

One thing disturbed me at first. The first 50 rounds or so we getting ejected directly into my face. Bouncing off my glasses, in fact, I got burned as one shell landed between my temple and the glasses and sat there!

After that first box of ammo, I switched to +P and the situtaion never happened again, even after switching back to the first type of ammo.

I used WWB 230 grain FMJ, Black Hills 230 Grain +P JHP and WWB 230 grain JHP. I'm settleing for using the WWB 230 grain Hollow Points for my Home Defense Load. I get real quick, dead on double taps with them.

If the 230gr JHP is the bulk white box ammo then you need to find a better SD ammo selection. I've chrono'd them before and they're woefully slow. That bullet will never open up at the velocities I got, around 600fps as I recall.

You probably tightened up your grip when shooting the +P and that cured your brass to the face. I find that that starts to occur when I fatigue while shooting a long session.

I got my 30SF this week and put a box of Blazer 230 grain FMJ and a magazine of 230 grain Gold Dot +P downrange before I left the gunstore/range. No issues whatsoever. It ejected everything about 10 feet at 3o'clock. It looks like it will be my most accurate Glock. I love this thing!

I carry my G30 daily w/a full load of Winchester +P (non teflon talon versions) and a spare G21 mag....

I trust it with my son's and wife's lives as well as my own.

In fact, I'm doing some swapping around w/friends and picking up a second one this weekend

...

I did some more shooting with my 30 again the other day. It does kick a bit, and the brass keeps getting ejected right into my face.

Aren't there some options for ejectors with the 30?

Depending on the load, mine ejects over my head.
