| I have a nearly new G20. When I insert a mag w/ 15 or 14 rounds in it something in my slide rattles front to back. I have tried cycling the mag to weaken the spring and have left it loaded but still the slide rattles when a full (or next to full) mag is inserted. It also happens w/ any of my other OEM mags. Does anyone know what could be causing this? TIA. |

If the Glock is not charged, the firing pin freely slides back and forth making a rattling sound.
It may also be the cartridges in your mag, as some double stack to single feed mags don't distribute the springs pressure evenly between the two stacks leaving one untensioned causing a rattle. |

I thought of the mag tension and pushed down the top round and shook it....no rattle. The rattle is definitely in the slide. None of my other 2 Glocks (17 and 22) do this. It's really annoying. I may have to completely disassemble it to see if anything is missing. |

Stop being OCD if the gun works for the love of god don't screw with it! If this were my first Glock then I probably wouldn't have thought much about it. But I have 2 others and neither of them do it. All are gen 3. I don't understand why one does it and none of the rest do. I took all 3 of my Glocks apart to see what was going on. It is definitely the firing pin in the 20 that is making the noise. When the plunger is depressed the firing pin is in a free float condition and moves front to back. Why the number of rounds in the magazine makes it rattle or not is beyond me. My other 2 do this same thing but for some reason not as much and don't make a sound. I wonder if some dry lube in the channel would help. |

Never mind. I figured out what was going on. It was the mag after all. Playing w/ it and looking how the slide and the top round in the mag contact I was able to recreate the pressure on the top round w/ my finger. Once I did that and shook the mag it made the same exact noise. The firing pin rattling when I had it a part threw me. The noise was close to the same but a little different. I chalked the difference up to the gun not being assembled affecting it. So far, the fix has been to insert the mag and give it a slap w/ the palm of my hand to seat the rounds in the mag properly.
Thanks for the help everyone. |
