Just got done re-springing a Cole's FEG (with parts straight from Browning).  This included cleaning up and rebuilding the slide (firing-pin spring, extractor spring and all new roll-pins).

However,  when the slide is installed on the frame and it is racked, the slide slightly hangs up about half-way back.  It will go all the way back under pressure, but will likely jam when firing because it is not smooth.  The slide did not have this problem before the re-build, even though I rebuilt the frame too, before the slide.

What could this problem be?

Extractor pin hanging out the bottom a little too far? How far did you take the frame down? I'm assuming you didn't take the sear / sear spring / hammer out.

Just some ideas:

Check the sear pin and make sure it is fully recessed on both sides of the frame. Make sure the recoil spring guide is not installed upside down. Make sure the lifter at rest is a few thousandths below the right frame rail. Also, the BHP, depending on age, uses one of two trigger springs - make sure you are using the correct one for your gun. Let us know what you turn up. Best wishes.
