I always had the idea that if I go to another state that reciprocity meant that I would abide by the same laws as the state I am from. I am now thinking about a trip to Tennessee. I looked at their laws and realized that there are differences that matter. For example I can't go to a restaurant that serves alcohol while in TN. That is something I can do here as long as I don't actually go to the bar. What does reciprocity really mean? It would suck to have to remember all the individual laws of the states I am going through while on a road trip. Especially since I might stay in every state I come to. Like I sad I kinda thought as long as FL has full reciprocity with the state I am in it would be business as usual. I am realizing now that it is more than likely wrong.

That's what you have to do.  Know and follow the carry laws of the state you're going to.  Reciprocity means they'll recognize your permit, but you will be following THEIR laws as far as carry.

Small price to pay to be able to do it, though.  I do agree that some states have somewhat ratarded-seeming laws on the subject.  The whole restaurant serving alcohol thing is ridiculous, if you're not there to consume it.

I'm from Tn, now living in Ga. and I still had a few questions to clarify.
If you call them with specific questions after doing your research, which it sounds like you've done, they are more than happy to clarify.

Be careful in Tennesse, NO GUNS in the national parks, permit or not.  If you're just passing through Smoky Mtns Park, you could be arrested for possessing a firearm.  So don't run your mouth if the park ranger pulls you for speeding.

NRA-ILA has great info on state laws in all 50 states regarding CCW.
