GI vs. 2 piece full lenght guild rod?

I new to 1911's and I would like to know what to look for in one that will be reliable more then match accurate.

For reliability the GI is the way to go.

Full lengths do little to nothing for accuracy's sake.

2 part full lengths can come apart and jam up your gun, I have never seen this happen, but I can see where it could do that.

+1 - the way God and John Moses Browning intended.

The full-length does nothing to increase reliabilty and reduces your options for one-hand malfunction clearances.

Full-length can be good on older guns with poor fit and finish, but I don't own said guns so I use the GI setup.  If I was going to have a FLGR then I'd get a one piece unit like the ones Kimber uses.

Thats odd because from what I gather the SA loaded is better then the Milspec? I guess what im asking is if the gi is better then why does the Loaded have the 2pgr? Is it just to bump up the price and is it a deal breaker?

Thanks again.

Go with USGI 2 piece or a one piece full length rod.  IMHOP the only one I'll change out is if the gun comes with a 2 piece full length rod, had to many of those come loose.

Springfield ships with a 2pgr because thats what most folks prefer, and several industry manufactures of 1911s use. Purist, for the most part, prefer something closer to the original or GI format of the 1911. Now here is where I break away from that line of thought.

Like it or not, John M. Browning did not live in our day and age and have at his disposal our current technologies.

There are advancements today that, IMO .....make the 1911 a much more reliable beast. A ramped barrel is something I have always preferred. My TRP recently went back to the Custom shop for that work as core focus. Your best bet is to perform plenty of research and understand what you want and don't want. Spend some trigger time behind a few 1911's to figure out what you like and don't prior to buying anything. Barrel Bushing varieties, bull barrels, 2 pgr types, etc.
