Hello I just got a new Sig P226R.  My question is after taken this apart I noticed that the recoild spring is red on one end.  Does it need to face the muzzle or the breach end of the gun?  Or does it matter?
Thanks,
Kyle

The spring is smaller on one side, and the small side always goes on the guide rod first. Otherwise it could uncoil.  Paint color indicates wheither its 9 or 40 and who knows which end is painted .

+1.  Tight end goes on the rod first.

Doesn't matter which end is painted, as it changes from batch to batch.
