Never have I seen such an effective marketing name as "HydraShok". It just won't go away!Black Talon was such an effective one that the libs had strokes and heart palpatations. That was a good one, too. Federal made a mistake naming their new line "HST". It should have been "Death Orgy" and would sell out in minutes. |

So true, Hydra-shock, it comes from me from every direction. I had my FIL's brother come at me over Christmas with a Hydra-shock in his hand, "You ever seen these?" |

So I was sighting in my new CompM3 this weekend in the frozen Pennsylvania wilderness and I fired a couple of carry rounds out of the kimber. When I was collecting my brass I found this on the ground in front of my targets. Be advised the ground was frozen and covered with a layer of hardened snow, but most of the rounds were still entering the ground. I was more surprised to find it un-expanded than to find it in front of my target though. http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o17/skiking8515/DSC_0011.jpg ETA: should I switch back to Hydra-Shocks The Golden Sabre is going to perform better than Hrdra-Shoks. There is no way to tell what that bullet hit, but it sure wasn't what it was designed to hit in order to expand, and therefore not an accurate representation of the bullets expansion ability. the switching back to hydra-shocks comment was more of a funny thing. i've found the gs's to be reliable and have heard good things about their stopping power and expansion.
posted the pics because usually when i find fired bullets, they are damaged, except for the occasional fmj that remains pretty much intact. perhaps i can pop this one in and use it again. i keed... -seth |

[ETA] They struck an absolute goldmine with that name, didn't they? Next Bullet Design should be named Brain Poppers. That would sell. OP, If you don't want the GS anymore, IM me, I will take it off your hands and dispose of it for you for free. |

Hydra-Shocks do not always expand either. They are a poor bullet choice especially when the Federal HST line is now available. Or if you prefer the Ranger SXTs. Please lookup the police test between HST and everything else on this website.
Anything from Winchester or Federal is better than the Hydra-shocks. They were a gimmick at best. The Speer Gold-Dots are a close third place. Ways to end an attacker's advances: (Only discussing pistol level weapons people. Everyone knows a nuclear bomb is the only guaranteed method to stop a robber from stealing your watch in the middle of the night.) 1. Federal HST (9mm should use the 147gr bullets for maximum penetration/expansion/weight retention) 2. Winchester Ranger SXT 3. Speer Gold-Dot 4. a rock 5. scissors 6. paper . 77. basketball . 1351. Federal Hydra-shock 1352. diplomacy Brent |
