I have a Novak front sight that I have to remove and replace. I have it secured with blue Loctite and that badboy will not move.
What is the best way to break the seal? I do have the proper front sight tool.

Thanks,
Dave

heat the screw up to soften the loctite

heat gun on low, or a hair dryer should do the trick... heat for a bit and try to loosen, repeat as necessary

As above, or the tip of a soldering iron/gun.  Careful not to overheat.

Thanks guys for the tip, how long should I apply the solding iron to the bolt. I don't want to melt or warp anything.

Thanks

Long enough to adequately heat the metal to soften the loctite.  Don't know how long that will take, necessarily, so that's why you should go slow and check often.

A half a minute or so with the tip of a soldering iron applied to the screw should suffice. Because the front sight screw shouldn't be torqued when installing, a lot of sight tools are made of soft metal or brass so you may damage your tool when removing a screw applied with blue loctite. Needless to say, because of the shallow screw head, it is important to push down hard on the sight tool which will help prevent slipping and damage to your tool.
