I tried searching "guardian" in the last 30 days (the max it will allow me to search) and it came up with nothing.

Anyway. I'm about to purchase a Dan Wesson guardian in 9mm, and I just want to make sure I'm making the right choice. It doesn't HAVE to be a 9mm, but since it's an option that's what I would rather go with. I'm not big into 1911s as most that I've owned have been unreliable (and I have never owned a sub $800.00 1911) is this a good choice? The only 1911 I've owned and really liked was a Dan Wesson (can't remember the model) and it was reliable, but had 2,000 rounds through it before I even bought it. I ended up trading it for a complete noveske rifle. I want one that I can carry and doesn't just sit in the safe and look pretty. My primary caliber is 9mm, but I have some .45 somewhere from the last 1911 I owned.

What are your opinions? No matter what I want a Bob tail, and I can't go above $1500.00

I have no experience with DW, I have no experience with 9mm but I am here for ya man. I like 45's and most brands but usually buy Colt, Springfield, Fusions.

I've had one Dan Wesson (45ACP bobtail Commander) and several 9mm 1911s.  Nothing positive about any of that mess.

Carry a real 9mm like a Glock or an H&K or something that actually works.

My experience with 1911's in 9mm is they are finicky due to the short case.
My experience with Dan Wesson 1911's is good.

I currently have one DW Guardian Bobtail, but is in .38super caliber.Ive no issues,it's a good carry gun.Shoots good, run's Corbon hollow points without issue.
Build quality is good...no complaints.I highly recommend it if super is to your licking.

For a compact 9mm, a Walther PPS is pretty hard to beat if you don't wanna carry around the best 9mm pistol ever made.

The Browning Hi-Power.

home built 9mm  (hacked a pos Colt enhanced 45 acp over to 9mm).

I use metalform magazines (10 rds) with a nowlin ramp kart (I think) barrel.  No Issues in the 4 matches and 700 rounds I've used it for. Note all ammo was 115 fmj american eagle.

as with the 45 acp magazines are key.

I know this is a 1911 forum I love me some 1911's but I honestly do not thing you are making the right choice.  You sounddiscouraged already about getting a 1911.  Why not look into a Sig or CZ if you are looking for metal frame or polymer wonder Glock M&P Walther HK Sig SA XD etc etc?

OP

I had a Guardian in 9mm and it was the best shooting pistol I have had to date. Great shooter, no failures, sweet trigger, and easy to conceal with the bobtail, aluminum frame and 4.25in barrel. They are well made and I can't highly recommend them enough.
