Thinking about sending a SIG P220 off to Robar for their "Norton Special" (all parts except frame). They are honoring the 2006 prices until Jan 31. Having never dealt with this coating, I'm looking for first hand experience with NP3, especially long term. How has it held up and just how scratch resistant is it? I've used GunKote, and am very impressed. Its a low cost alternative, and with the right prep its hard to beat. Any feedback on NP3 much appreciated. Slimjake |

I heard the turn around is about 2 months. But, it is supposedly the best for rust prevention. It does make the slide a bit slick, however. Visit: www.handgunforum.net/ |

Another endorsement for NP3. Down here in sweaty Virginia corrosion resistance is very important, and after all the money I spent on it if my favorite HK P7M8 started to rust I don't know what I would do. It now wears a coat of NP3 and I have no fear as far as corrosion. Side benefits are the fact it is easier to clean and needs almost zero lubrication. I like it better than chrome, also, because it is a nice soft gray color (always compared to duct tape, althought that hardly does it justice) and the finish is non-reflective. All in all, I think an excellent choice. Robar markets a black finish, too, that is not NP3, and I am thinking about trying that next time on a lesser pistol just to see how it looks.
