Hello gents,

Wifey is looking for some type of a light-weight 38 caliber wheelgun for her daily CCW.  She's comfortable with a wheelgun, so she says she wants another wheelgun.  We've tried several S&W models, a Charter and a couple of Colts, but seems no one at my local club has a Ruger LCR.

Anyone out there have any experience with the new Ruger  LCR ? ?

Thanks ! !

i got one for my wife for christmas.

with plain .38s it has a little bit of sharpness to the recoil; i weigh 200 lbs and it wasnt bad at all. wifey weighs 125 and she said it hurt her hand after a while.

i would recommend using it as a cary gun, but not as a range gun. get a ruger sp-101 for that.

good luck.

I currently have a S&W M&P 340. I rented a LCR last week and am seriously thinking about selling my 340 to buy a LCR. I think they're ugly as hell but shooting Speer GD 135 +P was much less battering than from my 340. I think it was due to the Hogue grip. The trigger was VERY nice and I compared the two side by side and the LCR was the same size.  I never liked the 6/442 due to their front sights and the LCR has a replaceable front sight with XS and HIVIZ sights available for it.  I say go for it. Budsgunshop.com sells them for $398 shipped or $589 with the CT laser grip.

I love my LCR and it's currently my main carry piece.  I went shooting with some buddies a few weeks ago and all of them were surprised at how smooth the trigger was.

I love my LCR. My most carried pistol. I have written in several LCR threads of my experience.

My two favorite  small CCW wheel guns are the S&W 442 and Ruger LCR.

After shooting both,  my wife wanted to keep the LCR for her CCW. But then again my daughter wanted a 442 (which she now has).

IMHO you can't go wrong with the LCR. But more importantly there will be nothing to regret about its quality or reliability.

I was looking at a LCR for my wife. I carry her S&W 642 so much that she said "it's MINE". But I handled the LCR in a store, actually 3 of them, and they all mad a racket!!! With the cylinder closed, I shook them fom side to side, not vigorously, but I shook them, and I was IMMEDIATELY turned off!!!! i had the dealer hand me a S&W 642 that was next to the LCR's and I did the same thing... no noise. WTF????

My SP101 was like that. All revolvers will rattle with ammo in them.

Good news gents ! !

Found out yesterday that a wife of a good friend of mine carries a LCR.  Will pick it up later today and will take it to the range on Friday.

Will post our results.

Thanks ! !

FYI: The transfer bar is the reason for the rattle.
From the manual (pg11): "NOTE: The transfer bar is allowed some movement within the fire control mechanism so that the trigger pull is not affected. Due to this necessary "play" in the transfer bar, a shooter will sometimes hear the transfer bar "rattle" when the revolver is shaken. This rattle caused by the transfer bar is completely normal in the LCR."

Hope that helps. :)

BTW I love mine. Just got it Monday and had it at the range Tues. Shoots great and everything they say about the trigger is true. Sweet little pistol.

Regards,
Ken

Held it once in the store and had to have one. Now my daily carry piece. Don't leave the house without it. Was a skeptic about laser grips at first, the CT video fixed that for me and the extra money is well worth it. Trigger is the best I have ever felt. Recoil is comparable to my PF-9. Not a weekly range gun, but I definately trust it, and make sure to shoot it regularly. Awesome wheel gun!

Buy one of Ruger's older P-Series semi-autos, and shake it; you'll really hear a rattle, the slide to frame fit is so loose.
