I have owned many 1911's, and I am thinking of buying a SA 1911 GI Champion. I have heard some derogatory things about this gun, and the thought occured to me ,why not just try another type weapon for a change? I know Rugers are fine guns, although a little on the chunky side. The new P345 in 45 ACP., seems to be well thought out and has been trimmed down compared to the old P series pistols, and it should be reliable as the other ones are. Any thoughts on this. I have other good 1911's.

I owned one. Had it for 2 days traded it in and payed the extra for a Glock 21. Wont go back now.  I just didn't like how the Ruger shot. And had a few feeding problems with  4 kinds of ammo. So i traded up.  But don't just go by what i  say i have a buddy that has one and loves it. So really  if ya want one get it try it out if you hate it trade up.

I have one, and though I rarely use it anymore, it is a fine handgun.  I like the P97 a little better though, but thats just personal preference, both are good guns.  Give it a try, you might like it.

I have a P97 and love it, no light rail though. I almost got a P345, the grip seemed very narrow and made it seem out of balance to me. It still has almost the same slide as the P97(which is bulky and heavy) but they narrowed the grips and changed the "ergonomics" it just felt funny to me. If you want a good Ruger go with the P97, mine feeds anything, anytime. But there just is not a light rail and definitley put a slip on grip on it, they are horrible stock. But if you want a light rail to the Xd,Glock or one of the others.
