Yep, it's for real.  However, most don't have a need for it.  I'm totally comfortable carrying any of my handguns, with one in the chamber (incl. 1911 in condition 1).  I don't see a need for a device that blocks the trigger.

The most important thing is:  Keep your finger off the trigger, until you are ready to fire!  If you follow that, the "Saf-T'Block" is not needed, nor required.

it does actually serve a purpose for certain carry holsters.  Sometimes I use a Thunderwear holster and I feel much better having the Saf T blok also the clip that attatches to the back plate on Glocks would be another use for it.  But for normal holster carry there is no need for it.
