I am going to be purchasing my first 1911 and I am looking at springfield to be the one to buy. I am currently looking at the SA Champion LW Operator...I really like the 4" barrel compared to the 5" or 3" barrel. Does anybody have any experience with these? What other springfield champion, or 4" barrel, would you guys recommend? My price range is between $800-$900 perferably. Help me out here... ETA: I want a good 1911 that will run straight out of the box. I doubt that I will be making any changes to it since it will primarily be a range gun, maybe a ccw every now and then. I want to stick with the black or blued look as I really don't care for the stainless. Thanks... |

personally, i prefer full size 1911s and would opt for a std MC Operator or Loaded both the SA champ LW OP and the LW champ/champ are comparable SAs--it all just depends on the features you want from each one for your uses i dont like shooting the lightweights too much, mostly b/.c of the incresed felt recoil; h/w, the carry weight does make em more comfortable my champ (full weight) was a sure shooter...wish sometiems i didnt trade it off
