My disconnector on my SA loaded is out of spec, measures .045" above the frame. As I understand it should measure at least .0625". My question is are replacement disconectors drop-in parts or do they have to be fitted. If they need to be fitted I will either have a Gunsmith replace it or have it fixed under warranty. |

It works, that being said the reason I checked it was I can move the slide back from full battery with the disconnector still in the disconnector groove and it will fire. The distance is probably 1/8 of and inch. My concern is that a round that is not fully chambered might fire. The deepest point of the groove cut is .063". Just deep enough to not allow the hammer to fall unless the slide is at full battery assuming that the disconnector is correct. According to blueprints +- 1/16" is the maximum range from the center point of the Disconnector groove that should allow the hammer to fall. Am I making a moutain out of a mole hill or is this a legitamate concern. |

The disconector groove is in spec. It looks like that the barrel is still locked with this amount of movement. Upon closer inspection I don't think it would fire if it wasn't fully chambered, barrel seems to still be locked. I may be making something out of nothing. I tend to go overboard on saftey issues. |

The barrel may be locked, but what causes KB is premature unlocking. The barrel and the slide need to be locked together while the two recoil to the rear for the first eigth of an inch or so. This gives it time for the pressure to come down to a safe level before the barrel tilts down. If you fire rounds with the slide partially out of battery, the pressure will be too high by the time the barrel starts to tilt down, and the case may let go when the slide unlocks. |

It might be too tall. My Springer's disconnector groove in the slide comes to the very edge of the disconnector hole in the frame. As you can imagine, simply dropping any old disconnector in there might result in a complete lack of trigger function if the disconnector is too tall. On other guns, the disconnector hole in the frame lines up with the middle of the disconnector groove in the slide, allowing a taller disconnector to work. The answer to your question, therefore, depends on the relationship of the hole with the groove. |

I understand what your saying. Could I assume that if all measurements are nominal on the slide and frame that a disconnector that measures to spec would be fine? Should I let a local gunsmith install it? Should I just contact SA and send it in? The pistol is not a year old. |
