Any idea if SA has plans for a commander size TRP?
If I was so inclined does anyone know where I should start looking for one or where I might find someone to build one for and what sort of price and timeline I'd be looking at? I love the TRP and will have one eventually, but I want a commander size 1911 for a CCW gun. |

i don't see that happening but i'm not SA either.
seriously, contact deb at SA custom shop and ask. i know the shop offers a trp package for almost $2k but they don't mark your slide or frame i bought a champion from 1*45 on the ee and it's a tac driver when i pay attention! eta completely missed it. commander is a 4.25 inch colt. SA's version is the champion(i like it better)w/4 inch barrel. |

Springfield has built in the past a Champion (4" bbl) TRP. One of the regulars on 1911forum.com has one, and posts pictures regularly. I think it's been at least five years, however. I like the look of it but not having a magwell on it is a deal breaker, thats the main reason im looking at the Sig TacOps Carry instead of spring field. I can get the sig with 4 mags NIB for under $1000, I wouldnt mind paying the extra money for the TRP if the Champion came exactly like the full size(just minus the 1" off the end lol )

Not a commander but I have a GI Micro with the TRP package. Obviously some of the things in the package don't really translate to the Micro.
For instance, they did include a magwell but I removed it. Also, the FCS and full length guide rod aren't there. Additionally, I opted for single side safety and Heinie Straight Eights instead of Novaks. As far as cosmetics go, my slide is marked TRP but the dustcover is not. Mine didn't cost near what the package costs now. ETA- FWIW I've had the pistol for years, run it hard and it doesn't give me any problems. |
