I've recently rebuilt/armored about 50 2002 Sig 226 in 40 cal. About half of the pins were an absolute bear to get out. The replacement pins were too big and mushroomed while trying to get them in. On the 3rd call too Sig they sent pins that were smaller (about 0.0010" smaller). Problem resolved. Anybody else with similar problems?

In a word - yes.

The single piece pins were used after the roll pins in earlier designs kept working their way out.  In some earlier runs of P229's, they used a roll pin size that was smaller than what they currently use.

My duty weapon is a P220ST and I attempted to remove the firing pin positioning pin.  I say attempted because I could never get the damn thing to move.

So yes, there a pain in the ass to get out but they won't work their way out either.
