Hey everyone.

I'm looking for a small backup CCW pistol, and I'm looking at the 232 and 239. Can someone sway me either way? I'm looking to ankle carry or small of back it.

Thanks,
Wicked

I have the 232 and carry it every once in a while.

It is great for carry but still fits in my hand very well.

I don't have a 239 but I do CCW a P6/225 which is also a single stack 9mm.

The 232 is easier to hide but the P6 kicks less and is more powerful.

Have you looked into the P6s? They are a great pistol for the money...

I've carried both the 230 and 239 as back up guns and as off duty carry. I had the 230 before the 239 was introduced. The 239 is just slightly larger than the 230 but is just as easily concealable for me. I prefer the 239 because you can carry full power 9mm, .40 or .357 sig ammo depending on which caliber you purchase. All of those cartridges far surpass the stopping power of the .380.

I've carried the 239, almost exclusively for about 2 years. Great pistol, very accurate and not hard to conceal. Much easier to conceal than my 225, even though there is only a slight difference in size.

239 (in .357 Sig) for me as well.  Not a big mag capacity, but a geat shooter, reliable as a hammer, and accurate.

I think the 239 is too big to carry on the ankle. I have no experience with SOB carry and most people I know dont recommend it.

The 239 is a great gun and like the others have said it will handle full power 9,40,357 loads. I sold mine because it felt just as big as my 229 when I carried it.

Good luck

Not exactly what you are asking, but I tried to carry my P6 (225) small of the back, and any time I bent over the barrel pushed my pants out and it looked bad... big block of steel on my arse.  Now I carry on my right hip canted forward so the handle lies in my pelvis.  Even wearing a tight t-shirt and shorts you cannot see it.

I carry it all the time and my GF doesn't even know I am carrying.  Can even carry it with shirt tucked.

YMMV.
